Decent cabinets will cost you $10k and appliances will cost $5k. Add in flooring, demo, etc, etc. also build in 10% for overages. If you are going down to the studs you may find other issues.

Home Depot is notorious for buying cheap, thin Chinese cabinets that in many cases will split when a nail or screw enters it. If you want to sell your house at some point in the future do not risk your kitchen job on HD because it may devalue the selling price of your home. The mixed reviews here are consistent with what I've read on the web.

Customers can schedule an initial in-store appointment with a THE HOME DEPOT® specialist online or call the store directly. We ordered kitchen cabinets for our renovation project. We spoke to HD several times and each time they said it will be delivered or is out for delivery. They did confirm Coyote Logistics was suppose to deliver the 2nd half of our order.
I was amused that a Viking Stove does not have a clock on it, but a $500 stove does. We've had 3 large projects done thru Home Depot. The benefit to me is that you have a large company standing behind you, and that has saved us some real aggravation.

I see these take an average of 4-12 weeks, but I don't have a date yet or even an idea when this will be scheduled. When I contacted my original rep, he simply replied that he didn't know the schedule. If I'd known how this would go, I would have worked with someone else. I said I was ok with a down payment and then paying the remaining balance after the work was complete, but Home Depot wasn't having it.
Spend two nights at home depot just to get our money back. After numerous phone calls and finally going to corporate they came back out to look at the completed job. It was agreed-upon that they would come back, takeoff the backsplash and redo it and only replace one small countertop. They did not replace the big one which now has my range over too far and not even with it overhead fan. They did come back out and start but never finished. My kitchen is now torn apart and Unfinished.

I'd much rather support my local businesses. The owners live in the community, so their profits stay in the community. I also get much better service and a better grade of products. Where I live, the stone countertops at HD are actually the highest priced around - every granite yard I went to was significantly lower priced. My experience with HD doesn't have to do with re-facing but new cabinets. We told the woman there that we wanted something that was decent quality but wanted to watch the budget.

Our kitchen is part of our remodel, but isn't the main concern at this point. We don't want to spend a ton of money on custom cabinets at this point. We are more concerned with getting the layout right and figure if the configuration is right, we can upgrade the cabinets in a few years. That said, has anyone had any experience with the Martha Stewart cabinets at Home Depot? I'm specificially interested in the Ox Hill Model.
Granite prices may be less expensive at local granite shops, and you will be able to pick out the granite slabs, not just the "name", as well as choosing your own fabricator. The 10% savings he offered for the quick sign may be quite a bit less savings than going to "small box" stores. I started with HD, but ended up getting all custom work for less money than HD, Lowes, or Bradco .
We were able to order Kraftmaid cabinets which are now all wood and no fiber board unlike the American Woodmark we originally looked at. The cost from Carter Lumber was $3200. I would never sign over that kind of money without first shopping around. Not only for cost, but also for options.
This is how important customer service is to Home Depot! I was never advised of ANY cancellation fee, nor was I ever given any paperwork for the order. Girlfriend who is a big shot lawyer used them for a tiny fence project. I had my 10x10 townhouse kitchen redone, maple cabinets with all wood boxes, granite, brand new appliances, undermount sink and faucet for around $10k. Home Depot quoted me $20k for the same grade materials. From dining to dish storage to comfy seating, islands are for much more than preparing food these days.
There is an engineered quartz product from Cambria that is more durable and less porous than granite. We are redoing a kitchen and two baths and have decided to go that way. It one thing to use them for mundane things like installing a water heater or siding. I would never use them for a full remodel.
Not enough screws and joints to put together. We took out of the box outside because all the white pieces were everywhere. Job cost about $2500 over estimates with xtra work not covered under contract. If ya hve an old house like me you will have extra work.
